Terms of Service
The plain-English terms that apply when you work with us to design, build, and host your website.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to the services provided by ForgeWeb ("we", "us", "our") to you, our client. By asking us to start work, paying a setup fee, or using a website we host for you, you agree to these terms. We'll always confirm the specifics of your project, including scope, price, and timing, separately before we begin.
2. Our services
We design, build, host, and maintain websites under the plans set out on our pricing page. Each plan includes a one-off setup fee to design and build your site, followed by a monthly care plan covering hosting, security, updates, and support. The exact features depend on the plan you choose.
3. Fees and payment
The setup fee is a one-off payment for designing and building your site. Once your site is live, you pay the monthly care plan for as long as you'd like us to host and maintain it. Setup fees are typically payable before launch, and monthly fees are billed in advance. We don't tie you into long contracts; see cancellation below.
4. Content changes and revisions
We want updating your site to feel easy, not transactional. As part of your monthly plan, we'll always handle reasonable content updates, such as text edits, swapping images, or updating opening hours. Adding new pages is included while you're within your plan's page allowance; beyond that limit, extra pages are a simple paid add-on that we'll agree with you before doing the work.
This works on a fair-use basis. If a request grows into something larger, such as a redesign, a new section, or significant new functionality, we'll let you know that it's better scoped as a separate project, and we'll agree any additional cost with you before doing the work. We won't surprise you with a bill.
5. Your responsibilities
To help your project run smoothly, you agree to:
- Provide the content, images, and information we need in good time;
- Make sure you own, or have permission to use, any material you give us;
- Review and respond to drafts so we can keep to the timeline;
- Use the website and hosting lawfully and not for anything harmful or prohibited.
6. Domains and third-party costs
Your domain name (for example, yourbusiness.co.uk) is registered in your name and remains yours. We manage it on your behalf as part of your plan, but the cost of buying and renewing the domain is paid by you and is not included in the monthly fee. The same applies to any optional third-party services you ask us to set up that carry their own charges. We'll always be clear about these costs before committing you to them.
7. Ownership of your website
Once your project is paid for, the website is yours. If you ever decide to leave, we'll hand over your site and help you move it elsewhere, with no lock-in. Some underlying tools, frameworks, or third-party components may remain subject to their own licences.
8. Hosting and availability
We aim to keep your site online and running reliably, and we monitor and maintain the hosting as part of your plan. We can't guarantee uninterrupted availability, as occasional downtime can result from maintenance or factors outside our control, but we'll always work to resolve issues quickly.
9. Cancellation
You can cancel your monthly plan at any time, and there are no long contracts. If you cancel, hosting and maintenance will continue until the end of your current billing period, after which we'll stop hosting the site and help you move it if you'd like. Setup fees already paid are non-refundable once work has begun.
10. Liability
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data, or business arising from the use of your website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Referrals
We love it when our clients spread the word. If you're an existing customer and you refer a new client to us, you'll receive a deduction of between £50 and £100 off your next monthly bill once they sign up and their setup fee is paid. The exact amount depends on the plan the new client chooses:
- £50 when they take a Spark plan;
- £75 when they take a Forge plan;
- £100 when they take a Blaze plan.
To qualify, the person you refer must be a genuinely new client and should mention your name when they get in touch. There's no limit on how many people you can refer, though any single bill can't be reduced below £0; we'll roll any remaining credit over to the following month. We may adjust or withdraw this offer in future, but we'll always honour referrals already made.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and we'll let you know directly if a change materially affects your plan.
